Setting up alerts: email, in-app, and Slack

How monitoring alerts work, what severity levels mean, and how to route top-priority alerts to Slack.

The monitoring loop fires alerts for material movements: position drops on revenue-driving queries, week-over-week conversion drops, AI-Overview visibility shifts, and ICP drift. They land in the bell icon top-right and (for high/medium severity) hit your inbox.

Severity levels

  • high — material revenue exposure; emails everyone on the workspace.
  • medium — worth a look this week; emails everyone.
  • low — informational; in-app bell only.

Slack delivery (G2.5)

Workspace → Settings → Webhooks. Pick the Slack target type and paste an incoming-webhook URL from your Slack workspace. Subscribe to `alert.high` for top-priority alerts only, or `alert.*` for all monitoring events.

Slack incoming-webhook URLs are secret — anyone holding the URL can post to that channel. Treat them like passwords; rotate via Slack's admin if leaked.
